To every X Factor reality tv hopeful who waited until the last minute to apply – get on it!.
The X Factor USA Season Two deadline is tomorrow, April 27, and it may take you that long to get your audition done… if you start right now. No, not because you’re slow – but because the software you are forced to audition with on the X Factor USA auditioning site is, well, simply atrocious.
I spent five hours last night with a friend on her X Factor USA audition. One hour was spent coaching her on the actual audition, the other four were spent trying to get the stupid site to work!
Here are some screen shots to show you what you have to look forward to. As of 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26th – the X Factor USA audition site is barely functioning.
Here is something I’m betting you’ll need:
Okay… moving on. To audition, you must first create an account. They’ll ask you the basics, then Simon will pop up and say hi.
He intros each question, then it’s your turn to answer. You hit the RECORD VIDEO REPSONSE BUTTON and you’re on.
Here are the questions:
My suggestion: PRE-WRITE YOUR ANSWERS AND MEMORIZE THEM. DO NOT WING IT! And make sure you REALLY AMP UP THE ENGERY. You’ll no doubt be super annoyed at how awful this recording software is, so just channel that frustration into fire and show us that spark inside of you.
Even when this happens:
And this…
Sure, you can sing, but can you fix a computer? I personally think that it was really dumb of X Factor USA to use such glitchy software. They are for sure going to lose a lot of really great candidates because they just can’t get their audition video uploaded. My suggestion is to go back to good ol’ DVDs, or at least let people upload their videos on YouTube!
My friend and I finally got her videos uploaded last night at around 11 p.m. – after HOURS or troubleshooting. So give yourself time, ask a computer nerd friend to help you, and hopefully I’ll see you on TV soon!
P.S. One more tip: Don’t be discouraged – YOUR AUDIO WILL SOUND LIKE CRAP. But at least you’ll feel better knowing that every single person that also auditioned will have poopy sounding audio, too. So there’s the silver lining. :)

Thanks so much! I thought I was the only one pulling my hair out over this. You’d think they would want to spend some money to make it easy on us hopefuls to record and upload our videos – especially since it’s only gonna be tough on them listening to the crappy audio their system records. Oh, well… Hope they fix it for next season.

You’re welcome! Hopefully you still have hair left. I would be very surprised if they are still using this system next season. Good luck!
